Pablo Flores, Drone Hopper´s CEO and CTO, took a very long time in Galicia, were he has suffered the wildforest devastation of forest and human life left behind them. As the fires where committed at night, extinction work was really difficult, as aerial means cannot operate without visibility. This fact prompted him to bet on a project that would allow to fight against it, thanks to disruptive technology.
In 2016, Drone Hopper was born with the aim of investigating how UAV’s could help in fire-fighting tasks, minimizing human risk and the spread of fires.
The first prototype was desinged to mist the water using the flow engines themselves. In front of the cost of a hydroplane, Drone Hopper proposed a much more economical solution. To create a large fleet of drones that would continuously stay in the air, firefighting.
Drone Hopper incorporation as an incubated company under the ESA BIC Community of Madrid-Node UC3M program, an initiative of the European Space Agency for business incubation and managed in Madrid by the Foundation madrid+d with the support of the regional government, has been an important milestone for the company.
